Domotz Box Upgrade to new Provisioning Channel

2 min

In this article, we will outline the procedure for upgrading the legacy B-01 and B-11 models of Domotz Boxes to the new provisioning channel.

Reasons for this Upgrade

The legacy provisioning channel for the B-01 and B-11 Domotz Boxes is approaching its End of Life (EOL) on April 31, 2025. Consequently, it is imperative that we transition all existing boxes to the new Ubuntu Core-based provisioning channel before this deadline

About the Domotz Provisioning Channel

Domotz Provisioning Channel guarantees:

  • Direct Support on the Domotz Boxes
  • Updates to the operating system running on the Domotz Box hardware

Upgrade Process

We will remotely upgrade your Domotz Boxes from Debian 8 to Ubuntu Core.

Potential Issues

Although the update process is typically straightforward, there are potential issues that may arise during the procedure:

  • Downtime of the Domotz Collector (up to 6 hours)
  • Inability to perform the update due to firewall restrictions on your end (we will reach out to you directly if this issue occurs)
  • Possibility of a failed update resulting in the Domotz Box becoming unusable (we will contact you directly in such a scenario so that you can receive a replacement at no cost)

Firewall Restrictions

To ensure the proper functioning of the Domotz Provisioning Channel, it is essential to open the following outgoing connections, allowing the Domotz Box to reach the specified hosts/ports.
